Goals

What We Do

Our goal in everything we do and every mission we undertake is to save sharks.  We are gauging our impact in a singular measurement: the lives of sharks.  We are on a quest to save as many sharks as we can – as quickly as possible.

Whether we stop a shark fishing contest, increase dive tourism in a heavily fished area, implement an enforcement program that monitors catch in a Marine Protected Area, or help people understand that sharks are not the monsters they seem, we can all make a huge difference and save the lives of countless sharks.

Of course, we have smaller short and mid-term goals, and have to count our battles in small wins – as we are taking on a complex, large-scale problem. However, in terms of our overarching goals, we will consider ourselves successful when we have:

• A firm grasp of the real-time status of sharks throughout the world’s hotspots and active localized defense campaigns run by resident angels. Campaigns currently include China, Galapagos, Cocos, South Africa, Mozambique, and Indonesia (and are prioritized based on a needs and assessment) – and are rolled out in a magnitude of two - four per year.
• An incredibly indepth subject matter expertise and understanding of what is occurring in the field – around the world with a corresponding rich media library that can be leveraged to bring about change.
• Measurable impact on shark populations around the world – particularly in the last remaining shark strongholds. Decreased shark finning, improved enforcement, and local community ownership of the solutions.
• Support and the resources to support these campaigns and the organization – making it possible to make a real impact.
• Mass-market awareness of the issues facing sharks, and general public support for the cause. A firm grasp of the collective public regarding the role of sharks to the health of the planet.
• Growth of the network of angels into the tens and possibly even hundreds of thousands that are inspired by one another to address the issues in creative and highly effective manners. A movement that is literally inspiring itself to become
