Take Action for Sharks, Toronto

Fin Free Toronto urgently needs your help!

This is our chance to show our policy makers we care about the oceans and sharks. On October 13th, this is the public’s last chance to have the opportunity to participate and be heard.

On October 4th, the Licensing and Standards Committee published it’s report on the proposed motion to ban the importation and sale of all shark fin products in Toronto and placed the item on the agenda for the committee meeting for October 13th. Unfortunately, the report is not what we had hoped for. The report supports our cause but recommends that the issue be dealt with at the federal level. While we support the need for a federal ban, we are STILL URGING that the city needs to take action now to help protect shark populations - and we will continue to push for a total shark fin ban in the City of Toronto.

Together, we can convince the Committee the motion to be put forward for a full council vote on October 24th. THE PROPOSED SHARK FIN BAN WILL ONLY MOVE FORWARD IN TORONTO IF WE CONVINCE THE COMMITTEE TO DISREGARD THE REPORT.

We need your support URGENTLY to call for a full vote on the motion. Its time to come together to support a Fin Free Toronto. Every action is a step in the right direction. Get involved today and make a difference towards saving sharks.

SIGN THE PETITION and help us reach 10,000 signatures from TORONTO! You can sign online or visit finfreetoronto.com for printable versions and to download letters to councilmen – there’s even a letter encouraging Toronto schools to collect petitions and write letters.
